I had my first PVD (right eye) about 3 years ago. I've seen a significant improvement in floater visibility since then. My guesstimate is that happened within the first 6 months or less.
(I've had floaters since I was a kid so my tolerance/acceptance level may be higher than some.)
My most recent PVD (left eye) was about 2 months ago and as yet I've seen no improvement. I have one floater, in particular, in that eye that is the largest I've experienced. Looks like the edge of a thick piece of safety glass.
I have not tried any of the "floater fixes" I've seen posted here and elsewhere.
Finally, for what it's worth, on my first PVD the examining ophthalmologist commented something along the lines of 'Oh, that's a big one!" when looking at my eye and the floaters therein.
I have not been to the eye doctor to examine this latest PVD due to the pandemic.
