Any reviews or opinions on the Jim Venetos method?

Folks, sorry for the delay in responding, the ranges around me were closed for overseeding, so I had to wait for one of them to reopen (which it did last night).

A little bit about myself so you know where I am coming from in this analysis: 41 years old, 11 handicap (tend to shoot in the 80s), left handed. I don't consider myself flexible, but can generate pretty decent clubhead speed (110-115 with my driver - TaylorMade R1).

I did quite a bit of dry swinging and practice at home to attempt to get the feel of the setup prior to hitting the range. Once I got to the range, I tried to hit several bump & run chips (his foundation for learning the swing) prior to moving up to full wedges and other irons.

Quick summary: The benefit (from what I can see) is it basically shortcuts part of the swing, in that it attempts to get you into the right impact position before you start. Venetos is very focused on remaining still throughout the swing, and getting in this position early does make that easier - there is monimal/no rocking or swaying if you are already in the impact position.

It took some time for me to get into a groove, but once I did, I would say I was hitting it close to as far as previous (125-130 with a PW) good contact. I'll also say that overall, I had more consistent impact and accuracy swinging in this way.

Most of my wedges had a very small draw, and as I moved to my 8-iron, it was a little more pronounced. I always have trouble returning my hands to impact (I tend to leave the face a little open) and this setup didn't really do much to correct that. When this would happen - the ball would not draw, and would stay left of target (as I said - I am left-handed).

I tried hitting a few with my driver, and IMO, I need to work on this a little more. It doesn't feel as comfortable getting into the correct position prior to starting the swing, and because of that I was not making good contact.

In summary - I will hit the range a few more times prior to taking this to the course just to get more reps. I definitely want to work some more with my longer clubs (hybrids/woods) and my driver to see if it is something I can translate. I am tentatively optimistic, as I did see some improvement, but it's really way to early to tell at this point.
