I work in oil and gas and most of the Texans/Okies/Lousianans/etc that I know that have worked up here generally dislike it. 80%+ have moved back south while some have stayed mostly because they got married or knocked someone up and now have families here.

I'm technically a transpant but I grew up 2 hours away in Ohio and the culture isn't that different. But I still miss home at times since 3+ years in and Pgh still doesn't feel like "home" really. If you don't like it here now it'll probably take awhile for it to feel normal, or at least it has taken longer than I would expect in my case. Probably because I lived in Ohio for 26 years before moving here.
