Is this of any value?

The name may have been coined on Reddit, but people do have unclassified phobias.

"Trypophobia is not recognized by name as a mental disorder, and so is not a specific diagnosis in the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Fifth Edition (DSM-5). However, it may fall under the broad category of specific phobia if the fear is excessive, persistent, and associated with significant distress or impairment"

As to who is, or isn't affected — you are not her therapist, and haven't been there when she strongly reacts to things with hole patterns or textures. A condition she has had since childhood, and long before there was an Internet, or Reddit. No "eating up" was done.

So, pardon me, but you are not entitled to opine on the matter.
