Has anybody benefited from being in the Prospect union?

Unions may not appear to do anything when times are good, but they'll be there for you if you have a problem. It's like insurance. You don't complain that your car insurance is pointless "because you never crash anyway". You pay it because you recognise that crashing is a risk and you would like help to meet the costs if it happens. The same is true of unions.

Now is exactly the time to join a union, because the economy is on life support and eventually it is going to be time to accept that a recession is inevitable. That will lead to redundancies at most companies, and you'll want your union there when that happens to try to avoid it, but if it comes to it, to make damn sure you get your full rights.
