Well.. charging at commercial chargers runs about 15% less than gas. I know because I just drove from Phoenix to Calgary. My most recent charge on the road was in Fernie BC at the FLO charger. It's not very fast (50kw) so it's a bit slower than I'm used to. It took 26 minutes but it's right behind Smitties. So I had time to pop in for pancakes. The meal took 35 min so I didn't wait at all for the charge - I was waiting for the pancakes. The battery is under warranty for 10 years but the battery will likely outlive the car by at least 5 years. I've never owned a car that long so it won't be my problem but the battery can be recycled or repurposed as a home battery backup.
