Anybody else have issues talking to pre-GWOT vets?

I think his insistence on stress cards in basic really got to me. I explained that yes there were in fact little yellow cards, but all they had was some basic training info on them and they were just one of those basic training accountable items, never called “stress cards” or used that way.

He looked at me blankly and then said that but yeah he knew some former drill sergeants and those cards were totally stress cards.

I hate making enemies socially so didn’t want to dig at him, and I like relying on documentation to settle things which put my on a back foot and made me more hesitant to make sweeping statements as this guy made fiction up confidently. This was in front of some people with no experience either way in the military, and now I just feel like I looked like a know nothing.

I know it is completely stupid to care about that, but feeling like I have no credibility because of a lack of bravedo is frustrating.
