Has anybody had any luck rezoning I-2 into residential?

The land use maps will not indicate the current zoning of individual parcels. The Future Land Use restricts how the land may be rezoned in the future.

To determine the current zoning of the parcel, you'll need to look it up in the official zoning map.

Lofts and apartments are not permitted uses for parcels zoned I2.

At this point it should be sinking in just how intricate the process of rezoning a parcel of land is, and how many different places the information you need is stored. At a minimum you'll need an attorney experienced in rezonings, and I recommend attending a few meetings of the relevant Neighborhood Planning Unit and the Zoning Review Board to get a feel for the process and most importantly the people involved. And don't underestimate the role that relationships, trust and patience play in it.
