People should do what they want, but if you think not watching it is going to make the slightest difference, I’d suggest thinking again. Also, whilst I’m not defending Qatar at all (and reiterate - do what you want) I think the outrage is being a tad overblown, given no one gave this much of a shit when China hosted the Olympics twice in the last 15 years, when Russia hosted the Olympics and World Cup 4 years apart. USA is due to host the next World Cup - despite one of their major parties basically being run by religious zealots with incredibly regressive views on women and minorities and refuse to accept elections they don’t win.

The point is brutalist, authoritarian, totalitarian regimes hosting sporting events is nothing new. It didn’t begin with Qatar and it won’t end with them either. In fact the increased costs of hosting these events makes it more likely than less.
