Anyone concerned about the future of electronic drivetrains and their impact on the accessibility of cycling?

unprecedented amount of diverging proprietary standards and frame hardware are we entering a new era of waste and disposability?

that seems to be the general trend, and the "right to repair" thingy isnt addressing it adequately, IMHO.

having a right to repair is meaningless when you're vendor-locked by proprietary specialized parts and tools needed for the repair.

we need legislation that forces to manufacturers to comply with standards that guarantee cross-brand compatibility and reverse the push towards single-use bicycles produced for landfills

my personal conspiracy theory is that this is the reason we dont have non-indexed shifters anymore (friction shifters, or down-tube shifters, only found on old road bikes nowadays. there's like a single company that still sells them on, they're all but extinct). too much compatibility between various brands and models with non-indexed shifters, so index shifting it is
