Has anyone else been sucked down the "barefoot shoe" rabbit hole?

Some minimalist sandals or huaraches are a pretty slick alternative to teva's or chacos. I've always struggled to find outdoor sandals for beaches, canoeing, and around-the-camp footwear that doesn't look like a hiking boot sole ripped from it's original upper with straps added. That said, my teva's are excellent for gripping wet rocks and river crossings, but I always feel like some tourist with the zip off pants wearing them.

But barefoot/minimalist shoes? Bleugh. Both chunky sole and minimalist soles are two sides of an ugly coin.
