Is anyone else completely sick of post-apocalyptic SF? (Spoilers.)

It turns out that it is a myriad of factors. One, people are still wary about global problems, from droughts, to separation of the uber-rich, and the rest of the plebs, to sprawling epidemics, to racial segregation or nationalist policies, to dedicated social change like the Arab Spring, or the Umbrella Movement. Two, a good chunk of the list are heavily inspired by the post-apocalyptic nuclear stories that came out of the cold war, where talking about the fears of WW3 was more a question of how, in addition to when. Honestly, from what I recall, Dredd is as post-apocalyptic as Star Trek/Star Trek: Into Darkness, and is even less post-apocalyptic then Interstellar. A lot of the time, it is just a setting, especially seeing as people have seen both cyberpunk, and post-cyberpunk literature get outstripped by actual technological achievements, as well as a quick way to focus on a specific, real world issue. It also doesn't help that a good chunk of what you listed were remakes/series continuations, that didn't really add anything to the discussion. Sure, Land of the Dead was more about how the US fights its foreign wars, but did I Am Legend have anything unique to say, especially with the neutered ending? Has anyone expected decent social commentary from a Resident Evil movie ever since the third RE flick? Did Seeking a Friend for the End of the World accomplish anything that wasn't better done in Last Night (1998)?

Anyway, people are still writing post-cyberpunk, near future books that don't involve a global catastrophe outside of what is already happening. People are still writing space operas. And this is in comics, and novels. There is arguably more superhero science fiction then ever before, and that includes the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy, and Iron Man. I thought zombies were already overkill, but then iZombie came along, and had fun with it. All in all, put your money where your mouth is. Buy friends copies of Culture books. Give media from other countries a shot. If all else fails, try a different genre. Surreal, fantastic horror, or psychological thrillers in television has never been as good.
