Anyone Else Experiencing "Wordnesia" from Coding.

u/MrFancyPant the user u/rez_spell made a particularly important point that your experience is not necessarily semantic satiation.

I have experience the phenomena that you describe before and usually it is the simplest of words, too.

The word just look wrong. I know what the word means, but it doesn’t look right.

I will say, I have had this happen at work too while updating SQL queries and doing data validation which that can be very repetitive.

But… knowing earlier is always better, you will want to rule-out neurology by talking to your doctor.

When is your next physical?

Schedule one if you don’t have an answer to that question. Tell your doctor.

Do you have any other issues? Symptoms? Are you sleeping okay? Diet changes?

While some stress is healthy for our self-esteem, too much stress can be problematic.

The basic physical tests your doctor can perform if they feel it is necessary can rule-out pretty much all neurological issues at just a basic physical, all primary care doctors know how to perform those exams like you know how to tie your shoelaces.
