The fighters who sign up for this are in a way sacrificing their bodies to the art that they have dedicated their lives to. Purposely putting themselves at risk for the sake of advancing human understanding of combat. I believe that is their choice to make.

I also believe the league does not pay out for wins that come by way of unnecessary brutality such as eye gouges.

I fully respect and understand that the natural reaction to witnessing this kind of stuff is disgust. But understand that not everyone who tunes into this is watching gleefully.
