Anyone else not like "perfect" photos?

Reminds me a bit of a friend of mine who has been developing her photography skills over the last few years. She is generally quite good, but her most recent portrait set is kind of awful.

The photos are crisp and colorful, but there's a bit too much bokeh... She absolutely nailed the autumn colors. The reds and browns and golden colors are exquisite, and she even got that golden glow when the sun backlights in the right way.

But, despite so many nice elements, I honestly find the pictures to be exceedingly ugly. Most of the poses and angles feel unflattering, the makeup itself seems off. There are some reasonably strong shadows on the face which bely the overall lightness of the images, and the rich color gradient that makes the nature look amazing clash with her skin and makeup tones to make her look very unnatural.

All the comments though are going gaga about how pretty the colors are, which is true, but I'm left thinking "yeah the colors are nice but it's a shame about the pictures".
