Anyone else noticed the disgusting double hypocrisy of when gun nuts use smears to silence people advocating sensible solutions every time a preventable mass shooting happens? (Specifically referring to the accusations of "stop using the tragedy/still warm dead bodies to promote an agenda.")

that current gun laws are in everyway senseless but gun control advocates or even just people that oppose gun nut ideology are putting forward things on the table that they feel would cause these constant tragedies to stop.

Sure there's ridiculous extremist on both sides. And even if something is proposed, the problem is that voice is lost in all the standard screaming for "somehow" fixing the tragedy by proposing silly things that don't, in fact, have any impact on the situation.

It's real easy to complain that the "gun nuts" are the problem, but since the proposal is to change the existing system, it is the responsibility of those proposing change to justify how some "new idea" is better than what currently exists.

And that's the problem, in almost every case, whatever is proposed doesn't have any impact on, or would have had no effect on, the "tragedy".

It's the perceived equivalent of hearing people screaming to outlaw cars because there was a 20 car pile up that killed some people. Arguing over getting a license or making tougher DUI penalties does nothing to stop anyone from drinking and driving. Regulations and laws only work when people actually follow them, so other than a ban on any sort of gun whatsoever, there's no "rule" that will solve anything.

As the solutions always seem to be something that would have zero impact on anything, that's probably why you're seeing the reaction you're seeing. The same "solutions" keep being brought up, because no one wants to admit there are just some people who are fucked up, and as long as the media keeps making shooters cool and breaking news and glorifying them, you'll keep seeing the same thing over and over.

I'm not sure asking people after a tragedy to wait a day or two before speaking their political talking points is that big a deal, considering it never works and doesn't stop anyone from trying to blather on about their political points anyway. And they're not meaning you, as in you specifically, its usually the political grandstanding and opportunists they're referring to. The people that are more than willing to use anything to push an agenda.
