Anyone else take twice as long to cook something than the recipe says?

Same shit for meals that are needlessly "one pan" meals.

We regularly cook this fajita pasta dish, that only takes one pan and has a claimed (but mathematically impossible) prep time of about 30 minutes.

We cook the chicken in the one pan, transfer to a bowl. Cook the veg in the pan, transfer to the bowl. Add pasta and liquid to the pan. Cook for 25 minutes. Then transfer the chicken and veg from the bowl to the pan. Add cheese. Serve.

It's tasty and if you follow the directions you only need one large pan. But it takes an hour to cook.

The dumbest part? You can actually cook it in 30 minutes if you just start the pasta in a separate pot. Cook the chicken, move it to a bowl. Cook the vegetables, move it to a bowl. It cuts the cooking time in half and only uses one extra pot.
