This might sound weird. I am an ENFP and I agree with his appropriation point. If you want to grasp what he's saying abstractly you've got to stop viewing blacks as this folk who've suffered all their lives. or have to live life remembering all the bad stuff that has happened to their ancestors. I am not against affirmative action but I think on a general level we've got to live our lives now. Thinking about what happened in the past does not help anybody. I am not right wing or anything but I always deconstruct concepts and like to see things as they are. In this world of the Internet =this vast knowledge at the tip of your fingertips=things get blurry. Instead of thinking about who invented what, who added into it we've got to appreciate the inventions themselves. Black rap artists if confident about their heritage, culture and well-being, in general, would be happy for some white flavours. Instead they think it's appropriation. If we give everything names and clear boundaries then West might assume the rest of the world 'appropriated' all of their values, ideas, beliefs, inventions whatnot. Do you think about that? Plagiarism should be dead. This debate has been there for centuries. Originalism is a myth. The world, as it is today, is specks, parts, slices, slivers of things. addition and division, some rational, serendipity. Was it Bell who 'invented' the telephone, somebody else's name could have been printed in history textbooks if they'd only gotten into patent office an hour earlier. The first plane, Facebook, you name it. In life, nothing is black and white. Certain and always accurate. However what I won't deny that we have problems with instilling that confidence that would make blacks overlook so-called 'appropriation', make them less possessive and more sharing. You've got to take what I've said here with a grain of salt. I was just trying to pinpoint what IMO your INTP was getting at. I am extremely sad about the current state of affairs, about the racism in the West. About how people get bullied and hurt because of the colour of their skin. But I really hope that one day when we've stopped bringing people down to make ourselves feel better we'll be able to share freely. This, of course, we ever transcendent power wars. Maybe those borders, boundaries are there for a reason. But at the core, in essence, there are only names we give things. and the surroundings. I am not saying they are not important, but they may be altered and things but change. I am going to say another bizarre thing just to better illustrate my analogy. Teenage marriages are wrong, right? Most countries have an age for men and women for when they get married. I disagree with this, our bodies are so ancient in comparison to our minds. Hoewer it should always be the individual mind who decides what is right. It's a mind for a reason. Now him being rude, immature a bit self-centric. That all sucks. Somebody both smart and sensitive would see your point (the generally accepted viewpoint), realise they have to carefully craft their arguments and try not to impose their views on you even if you disagree with them on a theoretical level. He mat be smart but his Feeling is a bit lacking IMO.
