Anyone have experience with life long expensive medical bills interfering with FIRE? How should I approach this

My SO also has crohn's. Part of our gameplan is flat out to leave the states eventually unless we get universal healthcare. Which I don't foresee coming anytime soon seeing as they still want to repeal Obamacare.

I can easily get citizenship to Israel or Ireland based on my family history. Grandma was an Irish citizen and it's pretty doable for Jewish people of German origin to get Israeli citizenship as long as they can prove that history-and I can.

I understand what you're saying in your edit but if this country cannot support your medical care, you are going to have to go somewhere that can.

I grew up in north NJ/NYC area. It's all I ever knew and I hated to have to leave. But I did because it is simply impossible for a young person to start their life there. I made the mistake of moving to Seattle first, but then figured my shit out and moved to Pittsburgh. It was the hardest but best choice I've ever made.
