Anyone got any crazy tour stories?

We used to tour in a shitty old Dodge Van that was always having engine problems. One day, we were lurching our way up a hill when the van just died. We rolled over to the side of the road and let the van cool down. As we were standing there, another van pulled up and a guy with a pink mohawk (and a tattoo that said "fancy" on his forehead) got out. He walked up to us, introduced himself as Steve and asked us if we needed some help. We said "sure" and he said he was going to get back in his van and push us to the top of the hill. We said we'd try to jump start the van when we got to the top and we set to it. He pushed us to the top, and we started the van up.

We drove along slowly, with him behind us. We were all making comments about his tattoo, and he had also given us a business car that was pretty much a full page. He had everything on it...from helicopter pilot to masseuse. This guy claimed to be able to do almost anything.

We were driving along, and then the van died again. We started to slow and pull over, when we were hit from behind by Steve. He bashed into us, and just kept pushing us until we could jump start the van again.

This continued for 200 miles.

We got to the end of the highway (next town), and were determined to do something nice for this guy, so we asked him when we stopped if we could take him out for a beer. He said "sure" and we went to a pub.

When we got to the pub, he said "I haven't been here since I escaped from prison!" That pretty much stopped us cold. We were like "what happened?" He explained that he was on a chain gang, and the whole gang escaped...and went right to this pub, where the cops picked them back up.

He asked us how far we were going, and he said he'd help us get there...because he was going there to go save his son from some prostitute he'd met on the streets. We started out on our way, and our singer (who was driving the van) decided on his own that he was going to lose this guy...and did. We were pissed, but Steve was gone. We continued on, and within 20 minutes, our van died again. We spent 3 hours working on the van before we got it fixed.

Steve, if you're still out there...thanks. You were one of a kind.
