Has anyone here chosen singledom over marriage/religious life?

Me. I’ve turned down about half a dozen marriage proposals because I’m not called to that vocation. It doesn’t bother me to see people with happy families though because I’m just happy for them. I don’t see my life as unfulfilling because I’m guided by the Holy Spirit to a different calling so yes I put my energy elsewhere right now mostly into my work and studies and I’m in the process of buying my first house (I’ve been renting) so that keeps me pretty busy! My priest has also helped me out a great deal through any uncertainty I have felt (like people have called me crazy for turning down marriage so much but it’s just not my calling!) so I do feel entirely confident and the uncertainty has just been passing and very quick really.
