Has anyone here ever used Martial arts in a street fight or in self defense? If so what happened?

Kempo and Arnis student here.

Story Time!!

7 or 8 years ago had an upstairs apartment playing Vice City at 3am. Something caught my eye off my balacony. It was my dome light on my car (left it open)

Someone is sitting in it either rummaging or trying to wire it. Hoodie, bandana over face. I panic, it's exactly like buck fever. I know I can do something but should I?

I don't believe in guns (at the time). I have a slew of Martial arts weapons in my apartment. My Nanchaku are by the door. Somehow my chubby ass gets downstairs and outside just in time to be behind him as he gets out. My heart is POUNDING, I'm terrified. Hide the chucks behind my back and just make a peep "psst" he turns and my primary target is available. Right knee. I flip them a couple times as I step in WHACK! He's wearing a mask but I know I just broke his nose. While that happens I hear steps charging toward me. My brain somehow knew I couldn't hurt that person in this stance. I pivot and flip them around my neck so I can step around to my right and catch him off guard with an upswing. It connects right at the base of his jaw. He falls back and scrambles away into the dark. No fancy Bruce Lee shit. Every move was on purpose.

I also play guitar and anyone who plays knows you don't think about the song you just. . .Idk play it.

That's exactly what it was like. I was just on autopilot for the whole thing. Other guy is out, I pull down his bandana mask. . .It's a kid. .13 maybe 14. I shook him back to life. I just said to him; "you play an adult game. You face adult penalties" he slowly got up and ran away.

I was 22 then 35 now.

Yes it's my property Yes they were in masks But I just beat the shit out of two kids over toll change and a pair of sunglasses. I quit martial arts shortly after. A sane and rational person shouldn't enjoy hurting others.

The end
