Anyone here in high school? What's it like now?

Honestly, I wasn't aware that sharing preferred pronouns and names wasn't a normal thing that all teachers asked students to do at the beginning of the year.

Wait, did the teachers make it public or anything, with like nametags and whatnot? Because isn't Berkeley (the city in general) half the kids of Cal profs/half impoverished minorities who tend to be transphobic and socially conservative? Wouldn't you just be outing people to be potentially bullied and harassed by people who don't fall in line?

Like there were openly trans and queer kids in my ghetto high school, granted people basically more or less kept to themselves and their cliques, this was Canada so we tend to be more liberal and the streaming of applied, academic and gifted classes meant they mostly didn't interact, but I do remember frequently hearing the Jamaican kids calling the openly gay speakers "battymen" and the autistic nerdy kids who were unlucky enough to have discipline issues and were put in the applied (re: community college or technical school streamed) classes tended to be intensely bullied to the point that they couldn't have a day of peace
