Anyone here working on a book series? Would love to get a good discussion going.

I am.

How'd you decide it was a series?

The brief outline I made turned out to be too condensed. It grew into so much more than what I thought it would. Did you plot the series out at the beginning or how are you doing that? No. It was originally going to be a series of short stories. Eventually, one of the stories took over in significance. I have the roughest of outlines in my head, but for the most part, it has evolved as I have written. I hit the major plot points, but some things have changed slightly. Is it a closed series (like a trilogy) or open - like you'll eventually have book #17 come out and on and on? Closed series. Once I knew I couldn't fit it in two books, I decided it would be a trilogy. I have a draft of my BK 1, but am struggling thinking about books 3-5. I want to have 5 parts I think. Any hints/tips? I don't have any tips. I didn't try to stretch mine out. As I said, I was originally only expecting one novel, then only hoping for two. My overall plot has not changed or extended in any way. I don't want to stretch it out just to stretch it out. Why five? How are you keeping track of the pieces of your "world"? I'm using Scrivener. My mind and random sheets of paper I've taken notes with. I've tried to make word documents and have one with misc. notes, but I haven't added too many. So, I guess Word. I should keep record of more details, honestly, but I don't. Favorite Series? Um, mine? Haha! I don't have a favorite, really. I tend not to finish series, but I do like the Anne series.

For the record, I'm currently on the editing stage of Book 2, and I'm positive it will wrap up in Book 3 :)
