Anyone have a local business they want to expand to Portland?

You are 100% right. Skill number one, I take criticism very well and take it as a learning opportunity. That said, here is a little more info on who I am and why someone would trust me in expanding to a new city.

-I ran a community garden for 6 years before moving away for college. I started it, gathered kids in my hood, wrote grants, built raised beds, and produced fresh veggies for local soup kitchens. That wasn't enough though so I held fundraisers and raised enough to have BBQs for the homeless during the summer.

-Here is a little entrepreneur spirit. At the age of 18 I got my medical marijuana card, found a partner, rented an apartment, and had a grow op. Did that with zero experience and made enough to cover costs and help pay for freshman year of college.

-After college I worked as a counselor for kids with poor mental health and their families. My best skill in that job was building rapport with clients. It is incredibly difficult to get people in treatment to be honest and open with you but a crucial part in identifying the issue so the right treatment plan can be created and implemented. Lots of my clients parents were in and out of jail, didn't trust we were trying to help and so on. This job also required great attention to detail and loads of documentation. Half my job was meeting with clients while the other half was documentation. Finding available resources to help these families was also key in their successful completion of treatment. Lot of time spent on the phone and doing research.

This job was very fulfilling and rewarding but financially it is not something you can do as a career unless you get a masters degree which is not something I want at the moment.

-My current job is working as a coordinator at a state university. This job also requires very close attention to detail. I stepped into this role and immediately became the go to guy for 40+ vendors the university uses. I had to learn on the fly and stay on top of everything or else a payment would be missed, a schedule would be wrong, jobs and the ability for people to succeed lays on my shoulders. I excel at this job. I believe I am a very resourceful person.

I have increased revenue leaps and bounds above the person that held my position before me. Brought in new vendors, cut worthless ones, and created a more steady stream.

-I have been taking a project management certificate program at the university and plan to sit for my CAPM in the next 6 months.

-I have lived in this area for most of my life

-I take direction well but also not afraid to speak up if I think there is room for improvement

-One of the reasons I would like to help expand someones established business is it helps me stay focused and motivated. If someone is relying on me to complete a task, I will complete that task.

Hope this helps
