Anyone move from Long Island/NYC to Syracuse?

I'm from Glen Cove. I went to school at Oswego and I settled here.

I miss the ocean most of all, and being close to NYC. It is much cheaper to live here, but the job opportunities are not so hot and Syracuse has been on a downward spiral since well before 9/11.

Do you remember that housing bubble we had a while back? Syracuse never bought into any of that, and as a result we have the most steady home prices in perhaps the nation, although they are currently going up.

The amount of snow was a bit of a shock, but that's all changed due to global warming or whatever you want to call it. The Finger Lakes are nice. Minorities make up most of the population. Shots fired are an everyday occurrence. Drugs and crime are an issue. Overall, Syracuse strikes me as a city that refuses to give up on itself.
