has anyone out there gotten disability even though you have work history?

As an attorney who has represented folks in SSA hearings, I strongly recommend you talk to an attorney. You pay them only if they get you benefits. Work history can actually help you insofar as it may make you eligible for SSDI which can often be a higher benefit. It can also give you a basis for explaining what had happened when you’ve worked and why you don’t think you can do so now.

It can be difficult to get benefits based on mental health conditions, but plenty of people do. Treatment history helps, but I would not suggest you wait until you’ve had 3 months or 6 months of treatment. You can apply now and work on getting treatment at the same time. Best wishes!
