Is anyone vegetarian simply because they don't like meat?

It's not the main reason but even as a kid I never really liked it. I always hated how how dry and boring some of it tasted, the texture was bad and often it felt more like I had to force myself to eat it instead of actually enjoying it. I've been vegetarian for about 10 years and I've never missed meat, not once had cravings for it or anything.

I remember I had a co-worker who also disliked the taste/texture of it but for some reason she made absolutely sure that everyone knew she "wasn't avoiding meat to be vegetarian or anything like that" like it's some shameful thing, kind of pitiful. But to each their own...

Also another one who hated cheese, which I can eat in small quantities but generally also find a bit gross.

Sometimes I feel like these people's bodies have a rather normal reaction to gross animal products but don't want to be seen as some weirdo vegan/vegetarian so they don't really act much on it.
