Has anyone wrongfully assumed you were dumb and in the process made themselves look really dumb? What's your story?

Eh, if a patient contradicts me when I'm a doctor I won't be conceited but I will just assume they don't know what they're talking about (unless it's a really specific disease/genetic condition they've had for a while, in which case they probably do know more about it). Safer to assume I'll know more about heart failure after treating it for decades than whatever some rando off the street knows. If a doctor contradicts me, I'll spend time listening.

Basically just depends. If you're an expert in your field, I'll listen. If you're some rando, I wouldn't give your medical facts much weight compared to my own but I'll happily listen to you about idk mushrooms or diving since I don't know shit about that.
