It was massive news all over the world actually - Oscar just started making a very good name for himself and gaining recognition for people with disabilities - there were also plans to model the Oscars' awards' legs after his own prosthetics... Then Valentines day 2013 happened.

Apparently Riva was thinking about leaving Oscar for a more famous rugby player and his own insecurities and angst drove him to shooting her that night. What he did was inexcusable, but I just feel really bad for the kids, amputees and people with disabilities who would have had a role model to look up to (as well as Riva, she was young and had her whole life ahead of her).
