You are wrong. The US armed forces are people they are not robots. If the US armed forces had to face it's own armed civilian population there would be coups. The benefits of "fighting" an armies own population would quickly become not worth it. As far as what you can do to modern APCs to stop them there are plenty of ways without guns. Roadblocks and gasoline are extremely effective.
