Want specific or general Recommendations? OK! Every other Wednesday on this subreddit we have the official /r/Metal Recommendation Thread where users can ask for recommendations for new music based on what they already like. For an entire week it is stickied to the top of this page. Go check if it is. If not just wait a few days until the new one goes up. Want to try something new altogether? Every Wednesday in between the recommendation thread we have the WHYBLT thread (What have you been listening to?) where subscribers list the albums and tracks that they have heard recently and write about them. This is a great way to learn about and discuss new music! Go check back at that sticky. If it is not REC then it is WHYBLT. Simple right?
Are you new to heavy metal? Start with the Blacklist bands on the sidebar. These bands are so popular on our sub we had to restrict their posting. Isn't that swell? This list is ordered by first debut record from each band. If you're already familiar with all of them, then begin ploughing through the Shreddit Popular Albums list and the WIKI. Want something from the last few years? Try These Albums.
Are you looking for bands similar to X? Try the Last.fm similar artist button or the same thing located on the Metal Archives page for the band. Here is one for Metallica.
Is your thread not really a recommendation but a conversation starter? Wonderful, it still is a rec thread and it is still being deleted BUT you can always ask your question every Tuesday at our general metal discussion thread! WOW!
