Apparently I shouldn’t talk about the misogyny of Islam and dangers of FGM, because I’m a white girl who lives in Europe.

In what context was this conversation? Like was this just some random white guy with no ties to Islam or was this a Muslim man-friend? When he brought up circumcision, did he mean it like “people care about FGM but what about circumcision! Men are the only true victims!” Or was it more of a “meh...fgm..circumcision...not a big deal.”

It’d be rare to find someone who is “western” who is open minded and defends Islamic religion and practices, even the misogyny inherent within them, but does not defend women or care about women’s rights? Was this some western guy who really didn’t care about or like women, or is this someone who is Muslim and sympathizes/gets defensive about the religion because of his affiliation? Or is the cause of stupidity just idiopathic?
