East coast liberals also view NC as racist. Met a coworker on a work trip to St. Louis and she told me she doesn’t travel to the south because she is afraid of the racism and of getting raped... She was from Baltimore, Maryland. To be fair she wasn’t a fan of the Midwest either.
I told her, that if racism was THAT bad in the south do you really think people would be visiting, moving, and living there. Going to be honest, I had my reservations about moving to NC (cinnamon colored skin), but overall good experience. My only issues has been with older 65+ white ladies... for some reason they are very hit or miss in smiling and engaging w/me...
