Apple iPhone 11 Pro emits more than twice the amount of radiation considered 'safe' by the FCC

Sometimes scientists and engineers have to invent bases to work off of even if they aren’t necessarily representative of the phenomena they’re being asked to describe. Imagine you were asked to establish a safe dosage range for something that has never been shown harmful, and neither you nor anyone else is able to propose a plausible mechanism by which it would be harmful. What do you do?

These guys probably said something like, well, typical dosages are so many watts per ft2 of body surface and we are pretty sure this is safe. Let’s just say any dose in this order of magnitude is safe and since we can’t speak to higher doses, let’s make the cutoff there. Then the standards weren’t been updated for 40 years is that this isn’t really a problem.
