Apple is suing a man that teaches people to repair their Macbooks [ORIGINAL WORKING LINK]

I think the whole right to repair thing is actually very different from what this is about for a company like Apple. You see, Apple doesn't care what you do with your product. You can run it over with your car for all they care. What they do want control over is the ability to warranty the product and the work that is done on it. You would be utterly floored to see how many people walk into an Apple Store with a phone that is working like complete garbage, furious at Apple. I have a friend who has worked in their service dept. and he tells me the carriers send horribly refurbished phones (cheap knock-off parts and even missing components some times, lose screws etc) as "insurance" replacements. The customer is livid and blames Apple and then the poor tech has to turn around and tell them that they don't even have an authentic iPhone. You'd think "refurbished by XYZ company" accompanied by the literally blacked out IMEI on the back would be a tip off, but your average consumer doesn't know the difference. Apple wants service done in authorized centers so that they can stand behind things working and fix issues when they don't. Once your product is out of warranty, modify away. Just don't be mad at Apple if something doesn't work any more...
