Applying for health insurance and realizing why so many people don't have health insurance in America

Less suited for car crashes, but in aus it's common to look at wait times in ERs and go to the hospital that has the least, eg Charles Gairdner (a major hospital) is currently 8 minutes for T4 triage (the most common emergency category, second least urgent).

Went there for a dog bite recently, was almost a walk-in affair, X rays to ensure no bone damage, dressing/antibiotics etc that night, ended up with 3 plastic surgeon consults over the coming weeks to ensure it was healing alright (did not need any operations), most surreal bit is how they just show you the door at the end and you just walk out. Near-everything in life has a cash register component, but healthcare here is like leaving a public library bringing great relief - I'm a very big fan of it.
