[Ardaya] Mike Trout: "I kind of saw what Bryce and Manny went through and it drew a red flag for me. I talked to Manny and Bryce. It was a tough couple months in the offseason. They put it perspective in my mind. I obviously want to be an Angel for life. That was a big key."

Well this is also severely downplaying the connection Trout has to Philly and Philly sports. He was a huge Phillies fan growing up as well and, even after being part of the Angels organization, flipped out when the Phillies signed Cliff Lee. There's a story his dad told where Trout was at home with his dad and started screaming about how "We got Cliff Lee!" Trout's dad assumed he meant the Angels, but he was talking about the Phillies. After he was already part of the Angels organization.

Most of us knew the Angels would likely try to sign Trout and as long as the deal was somewhat fair, he'd take it. We just knew that if Trout made it to free agency A) the Phillies wouldn't be outbid and B) Trout would likely choose Philly if they presented one of the best deals.

I know everyone is lolPhillies-ing over this, but I think you all think we're a lot more upset than we actually are. If Trout made it to free agency and didn't sign with us, we'd be devastated, but we always knew he was a stand up guy and was very likely to stay in Anaheim.
