Coming from the opposite camp. Your case is my understanding of normal. I know many left handed people and most if not all of them just adapted to right handed mice and never thought otherwise. I'm the only one who really grew up on left handed mice and it's partially because I got into computers only slightly earlier than most people my age. Only gaming mice were really form fitting at the time.

These days choice of left handed mice, and accompanying ambidextrous peripherals are waning. I made the switch to using right handed mice a couple years ago to finally rid myself of this crutch. It's been an ordeal and I still fight muscle memory sometimes.
