Well, I don't think desires are always mere; I think that would really depend on the individual! Like, for one thing, I kind of think there's a faulty premise embedded in this whole thing, in that I don't actually think stealing out of legit need (food, welfare fraud, clothe stuffs, etc) is actually stealing - it's survival. Beyond surviving, if you're like, a generally pretty privileged person and you just kind of want to steal out of a "fuck the system" mindset or you just want cool clothes, that's something that bothers me. I know someone who stole thousands of dollars worth of stuff from Urban Outfitters for example and idk, something seems real off there to me
