Why are humans so inclined to hate on each other?

A man will love another man if he's the same type of a person as him or likes the same stuff. If he looks different or likes different stuff, then he is less likely to have a good opinion about him. The problem is that we don't respect others opinions and don't put ourselves in their shoes. If everybody did that there would be no racism, sexism, homophobia and stuff. I'm starting from myself, I'm a muslim and I have good friends who are christian, atheist, agnostic, men, women. I even know a couple of guys who might be gay (they aren't out and it's not 100% clear they are gay, they are just feminine) and it's totally okay with me. Their life, their choice. It's all easy when you have the right mindset. People who don't try to understand things from your perspective, will hate on you.
