Are Malay Graduates And Job Seekers Being Discriminated In Malaysia? Yes, They Are.

Maybe I'm not. Maybe the majority are like this. Or maybe practicing the religion has acually got nothing to do with the performance of daily job like OP and you made it out to be.

That's a lot of maybes, my fellow Malaysian. Employers don't hire on the basis of maybes. They don't have the time or the resources for maybes. Most of the time, the recruiters hire based on experience.

My mom has been working in the HR department for decades and although her company hires mostly Malays, she agrees that that there is definitely discrimination when it comes to hiring Malaysians. Especially the Malays.

When it comes to Ramadhan, my mom would describe her Malay colleagues as 'zombies'. Their productivity would drop significantly but there's nothing she could do but sigh. It doesn't matter what you think, but this is real and it is happening.

You can definitely accuse people for discriminating, but they too have their reasons and although it's unfair, it is still happening. And they are under no obligation to entertain you. At most, the government can intervene and penalize companies that discriminate. But how would that reflect on the Malays?

The best thing you can do is to be what you say you are. Someone out there will appreciate you for who you are. And it's not as if you don't see a single Malay employee in MNCs and whatnot. Those are the hardworking ones and those are the ones who are unlike the rest. And I feel happy for them.

And for those who are not, why should I feel sad for them?
