Why are so many people DEMANDING phantom draft when none of Artifacts competitors offer it either?

I already enjoy Magic (Paper and MTGA) and so for me to consider switching to Artifact, it is not enough to point at other competitors, the game has to convince me it is better than that.

I am not a big spender in Paper, I only have a few EDH decks which are more budget. I play ideally once a week in a regular playgroup and I value the real life aspect of this very highly. I rarely played Paper drafts because it would quickly become expensive otherwise (even if you do well you don't often get your money back in prices), but as a rare treat I really enjoy it.

MTGA came afterwards for me, and it is just a nice opportunity to enjoy the same game whenever I feel like it in addition to my paper experience. I also play it F2P and still am able to play current meta decks without feeling like a massive grind (I don't play the game much more than I would enjoy anyway).

In addition, it allows me to play draft at least once a week, maybe more if I do well. That is great for me, because I really love drafting. If it was reasonable financially, I would play it a lot more and less constructed, but sadly it is not, so I keep it as the rare treat it is. Because I know I could instead play other computer games for a set price as much as I want (or even completely free, like my favourite MOBA).

Now I heard a little about Artifact and while I am not ruling out anything, the game seems mostly interesting for me for the drafting aspect - if the economic model is sound. But is it better than what I have?

You have to buy into the game once for 20€ - which is not a big deal for a game I would enjoy. But this doesn't give me a lot. I get some packs and 5 event tickets. With that I could play 2 competitive keeper drafts, or 5 phantom drafts (which make more sense if I just want to draft anyway). That is not a ton. Afterwards I have to pay 1€ every time I want to play a draft.

Now if I don't enjoy the game much, I wouldn't play a lot of draft so I wouldn't spend much. But then why bother in the first place? But if I enjoy the game a lot, I will want to draft a lot, but then I will quickly be spending a lot of money in the long term. Maybe slightly cheaper than MTGA, but in the end still a lot and I would also still have to restrict myself.

So what would be my motivation to switch?
