Why are so many people in the US(especially republicans) so opposed to more public transit and less car usage?

It's a worldview thing.

This may get downvoted, but many Americans are the descendants of steppe folks (yes, the "Aryans", R1A haplogroup).

Which means many Americans are wired to ride horses. That's why they have a hard time giving up cars.

In contrast, people that e.g. come from the forest don't give a shit about cars.

The steppe gives you philosophy The forest gives you mythology The desert gives you ideology Etc.

The philosophy types love their cars as cars are nothing more than mechanized horses.

India is the same. They're a Hindu(philosophy)-dominant nation and they're absolutely a car nation. The US is a Christian dominant nation and Christianity is also a philosophy.

If you're remotely even interested in how the far-right in the US behaves, you'll notice many of them are Christians, many of them advocate for philosophy and many love their cars.

A great example is that dweeb Andrew Torba from Gab: 1. He used to work on restoring classic cars 2. He's a Christian 3. He goes on and on about teaching his sons the Greek philosophers.

Right, just a steppe horseman in the 21st Century.

I imagine there might be a strong correlation between how lacking in religiosity (philosophy) a country is and how little they care about cars.

I don't think it's a coincidence that many Western and Northern European countries, who are very pro-public transport and bicycles, are also the least religious countries out there.
