Are Morningstar Farms Garden Veggie Patties Bad For you?

They're...processed food, but probably not the most horrible thing in the world. I don't purposefully avoid anything with this many ingredients, but just as someone who likes food, I rarely cook or eat anything with this many, either.

They're moderately high in sodium, which is not surprising. Their carb:fiber balance isn't too bad. They don't have a lot of nutrient value beyond some plant protein.

VEGETABLES (MUSHROOMS, WATER CHESTNUTS, ONIONS, CARROTS, GREEN BELL PEPPERS, RED BELL PEPPERS, BLACK OLIVES)

Okay, then:

TEXTURED VEGETABLE PROTEIN (SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, WHEAT GLUTEN, WATER FOR HYDRATION)

Not terrible, but basically vegetarian soylent. TVP by itself is pretty limp so it needs to be flavored, which is where the salt comes in.

EGG WHITES, COOKED BROWN RICE (WATER, BROWN RICE), ROLLED OATS

Okay.

CORN OIL

Increasing reports of polyunsaturated fats being suboptimal, but who knows - many of the recommendations related to fats changes every few years. Some people believe we're at the end of history again with "animal fats not bad at all, trans fats definitely bad, monounsaturated good to neutral, omega-3 good, polyunsaturated possibly bad." I'm confident about the trans-fats part of that. We'll see in 10 years where things are.

CALCIUM CASEINATE

Processed milk protein.

SOY SAUCE (WATER, SOYBEANS, SALT, WHEAT)

There's your salt.

CONTAINS TWO PERCENT OR LESS OF ONION POWDER, CORNSTARCH, SALT, HYDROLYZED VEGETABLE PROTEIN (CORN, SOY AND WHEAT), AUTOLYZED YEAST EXTRACT, NATURAL FLAVORS FROM NON-MEAT SOURCES, SUGAR, SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, SPICES, GARLIC POWDER, DEXTROSE, JALAPEÑO PEPPER POWDER, CELERY EXTRACT.

I mean, it's hard to say these are bad with the other horrible alternatives out there. Consuming them in moderation (as to your comment) is probably just fine. They're probably neutral rather than good (not many nutrients) or bad.

If I was doing that, though, I'd add in vegetables and the like as toppings (maybe use some avocado as a spread), plus a side salad.
