Why are mothers more likely to receive custody?

Did not mean It like that. I should have said the exception should be made by couples with same sex parents, their situation is unique. Although they might have resentment for their biological parents (as any adopted kids can) but that is a different topic.

I AGREE, two mothers is NOT determental to children.

I should have said single/divorcing heterosexual parents.

"Having a biological father who maintained a close relationship with his son, whether or not he lived in the family home, might be crucial in preventing susceptible boys becoming criminals"

There is a correlation between children without father's and crime (again with the exclusion mentioned above) Whether that is a direct cause by the fact they don't have father's, may be a different story.

Yes, I'm not being inclusive. I'm excluding same sex parents, there is a different dynamic there.

I understand, even though non nuclear familes are increasing and crime is decreasing but still, fatherless children are more likely to commit crimes than non.
