The general consensus I've seen is it would be a political nightmare and could quite possibly lose them the next election if they moved us back to red on the other hand if it's what the health system needs then do it. They may even win the publics respect doing such a move and could sway public opinion further in their favor. It's a gamble. A lot of people say their over covid but then still wear masks when they out. It's all about how long it would be for and how they sell it. Tbh there's not a lot of difference in Red and Orange from the publics pov. Do the general public even remember the traffic light system? I feel like any change in settings the entire TFL system would need to be tweaked to better suit Omicron.
