Older dogs who have lived with families who celebrate birthdays regularly begin to pick up on the verbal cues of the happy birthday song and they can sense that it’s a time of celebration.

Legitimately, they appreciate being told happy birthday and are happy to be the center of that rare but happy celebration that us humans partake in.
