Why are Redditors so concerned about their privacy?

Because first, why would you need to know my real name? Even if I didn't post anything that I wanted to hide, why would it benefit me to tell you who I am?

And second, I'm just not going to casually talk about hentai (and specifically, the exact legality and consequences of loli hentai), or make jokes that are in really bad taste, on an account with my name on it. There's just nothing good that can come of that, and a lot of bad stuff that could.

Plus, the nice thing about reddit is that everyone is anonymous. You can just say what you think and mostly get upvoted based on what you posted, hardly anyone will recognize you and vote a specific way because of that. There's some subreddits where people get a reputation but those are fun only because they're rare and not usually serious
