Are RP critics moving the goalposts by modifying RP terminology like coming up with "high betas" or "low alphas"?

And they aren't leaders.

Okay. Sure, I will agree that if you have a man in a ltr relationship he likely isn't alpha if he isn't taking the leading role.

That said, you also said this man, calls his own shots.

So hes not a leader, so no one is following him, but he calls his own shots, so he isn't following anyone else. I would still say that is alpha, it just doesn't sound like a guy who is LTR oriented. Sounds more like FWB or a MTGOW. How do you get stability and support when two people are just doing what ever they want and never making putting the preferences of the other party above them?

Like, LTR relationships are always with questions where the party must choose to put the values of one person ahead of another. Stuff like the woman getting accepted to a prestigious job in a different city, and so wants to move their as a couple, but maybe the guy would prefer to stay where he is, because he likes his current job.

Faced with questions like that the people in the LTR have decide who's preferences are more important to the couple. The person to whom that leans more often, I would say, is leading the relationship.

Okay, so you say this "high beta" isn't leading the relationship. But then in what sense can he call his own shots? Only when they don't conflict with what his partner wants? Then hes not calling his own shots. One doesn't say that an "employee" calls his own shots, because he can do what ever he wants as long it doesn't conflict with his boss, because then by that use, every employee calls his own shots, and obviously we don't use the phrase like that.

So the man isn't leading. But he still calls his own shots. Which means anytime there is a difference in preference between the people in the party, he just does what he prefers. And clearly the other person can't do what the "high beta" prefers, because then the high beta would be leading. But then how is the high beta providing support and stability?
